Frequently asked questions
What can I do in the editor?
Change or delete the text already in the PDF (line by line, with font, size, color, bold and italic) and add things on top of the pages: new text, freehand drawing, rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows, highlights, JPG or PNG images and your signature.
Can I change or delete the text already in the PDF?
Yes. With the Edit text tool, click a line in the PDF to change what it says, its font, size or color, or delete it. The old text is truly removed from the file. The new text uses the PDF's original font when it has the needed letters; otherwise a similar font. On a scanned page, the text is recognized (OCR, in your browser), the line is erased from the image and the new text is written in its place. Rotated text can't be edited.
Is the signature legally valid?
A drawn or typed signature becomes an image on the page, like a scanned signature. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and doesn't prove on its own who signed. If the recipient requires a digital signature, use the service they point you to.
Are my file or images uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF, images and signature are processed in your browser, in the background; none of it travels over the network. Images are re-encoded before going into the PDF, which also strips metadata such as a photo's location.
Can I cover information to hide it?
To hide text, delete it with the Edit text tool: it's truly removed from the file. Don't use a shape or image on top for that — they only hide the information visually, and what's underneath stays in the file and can be copied or extracted.
What are the limits?
PDFs up to 150 MB and 300 pages, and up to 40 different images per document. For text, there's the PDF's original font and 20 free fonts (serif, sans serif, monospace and handwriting), with accents for Portuguese and other Latin-script languages, Greek and Cyrillic.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a phone you can view the pages, write, draw and sign with your finger, and download the edited PDF. Placing items precisely is more comfortable on a larger screen, though.
Do I need an account, to install anything or to pay?
No. It's free, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
